Description

For those beginning to integrate DIR® practice into their disciplines who have completed introductory courses and want more in-depth training to expand their experience. This program   prepares you  for the DIR® Clinical Specialist/ Educator Certificate Program

For experienced DIR® clinicians and educators prepared to demonstrate competencies in DIR® principles and practices in their existing disciplines. Includes assessment and intervention. Obtaining the Certificate can lead to consulting and trainer options.

For administrators of EI, Pre-school, and schools who are implementing educational programs using DIR® principles and providing in-service training programs for school staff. This program will focus on the structure and Practice of DIR® in early intervention and the classroom.

Entry Requirements

Requires License or Credentials in your discipline

  • Completed introductory level courses and study of the DIR® Model. 
  • Have beginning experience applying model.

Requires License or Credentials in your discipline

  • Completed DIR®B or equivalent and practicing DIR® with range of developmental and infant mental health challenges.

Requires administrative experience and expected credentials in your area

  • Currently running program with some staff or consultants who have DIR® Certificate or are Institute candidates.  New programs in planning stages also welcome.
Duration
One Summer (additional experience may be required)

Basic and advanced levels

Minimum attendance at two summer Institutes and completion of requirements

One Level ( Attendance varies)

Requirements for Completion
  • Experience working with model; presentation of short vignette and Floortime™ video
  • Individual or group tutoring highly recommended

Present three cases at Institute:

  1. Assessment and intervention with 6-12months old child
  2. Assessment and intervention with 18 months and older child
  3. Clinical challenge

 

  • Written Case of 24+ months

  • Educators compare two year long cases when long term cases not available

  • A minimum of 25 hours individual professional development

(6 group hours = 1 individual)

  • "Case Study" of the administration of your program and methods implemented to support DIR® practice.
  • Certificate provided in conjunction with DIR® License
  • Recommended: Site visits at other DIR® based programs and special retreats.
