ICDL Mission

Founded by Stanley Greenspan and Serena Wieder, the Interdisciplinary Council on Developmental and Learning Disorders has been a pioneer in its work to advance the identification, prevention, and treatment of developmental and learning disorders. Through its research, training and publications, ICDL extends knowledge of developmental processes and provides a framework (DIR®/Floortime Model) for understanding and improving interventions with infants, children and adults with challenges in relating, communicating and thinking, including autism spectrum disorders. What's New?
ICDL is continually expanding its efforts through several major initiatives. Here are some of our current activities:

 

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Building capacity at the local, regional, national and international level
  • ICDL ANNUAL CONFERENCE: Save the Dates - Friday, November 7 to Sunday, November 9 with Pre-Conference Workshops on Thursday, November 6. Hilton McLean, Tysons Corner, Virginia (Washington, DC area). Watch this space for details and registration materials.
  • Insight Into DIR/Floortime: A framework for assessment and intervention for children with sensory processing, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other neurodevelopmental disorders.   • The ICDL GRADUATE SCHOOL is currently excepting applications for the September 2009 class. The final deadline for applying is July 1, 2009. Priority will be given to applications submitted by April 15, 2009.For more information click here.
  • The ICDL DIR® Institute is pleased to announce the first Southeast Regional DIR®/Floortime™ Institute Program to be offered by Floortime™ Atlanta. This is a year-long intensive DIR®/Flootime™ Educational Program Open to Professionals from All Disciplines. For more information click here.

  • The Spring 2008 edition of the Journal of Developmental Processes (JDP) is now available. To read the online version, click here.
  • The online literary magazine GLIMPSE showcases the creative works of individuals with or history of autism and other developmental disorders.  We are no longer accepting submissions for the upcoming November 2008 issue. New ICDL Graduate School

PhD, Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health and Developmental Disorders

The ICDL Graduate School offers an innovative educational opportunity to earn a PH.D. in the growing field of Infant Mental Health through a distance learning format. Students are able to work with colleagues in national and international communities under the direction of distinguished faculty all from the comfort of their homes.

The ICDL Graduate School is currently accepting applications for classes in September 2009. The final deadline for applying is July 1, 2009. Priority will be given to applications submitted by April 15, 2009.

GLIMPSE

Glimpse Cover Page

 

GLIMPSE is a new publication from ICDL that showcases the unique perspective contained in the writings and artwork of individuals with a history of autism and other developmental disabilities. This publications includes poetry, essays, reflections, short stories, photography, and two-dimensional artwork on any subject, so that we may gain a GLIMPSE into the rich inner lives of these individuals. We are seeking work from individuals of all ages.

A hardcopy edition of GLIMPSE will be available in November 2008. Submissions for the next edition will be accepted at any time.
