The Moss Society offers a one-time $1,000 scholarship for people wanting to work with children with learning disabilities.

Applicants have to be nominated by a Moss society member:

Students wishing to apply for the Moss Society Scholarships and do not know a Society member can write the Moss Society (20 Stoneridge Dr., Suite 102, Waynesboro, VA 22980) and ask for assistance in obtaining a nomination. The letter should have name, address, and phone number (email too, if desired). The letter should tell about the student, goals, GPA, etc. Please remember to put your phone number on the letter in order to be contacted by phone.

For the Cary Scholarship, students should mention teaching goals, philosophies, reason for choosing a career teaching LD students.

The Moss Society will then send the student letter to about 12 Society members within the same area, asking if any member would be willing to contact the student to give a nomination. It is rare that a student does not receive a nomination, however it is a possibility.

The letter should come to the office between November and February, in order to allow time for letters to be sent, contacting student, etc.

ALL application requirements must be submitted as one complete packet and postmarked no later than March 31, 2012.
