Student Attendance

The ICDL Graduate School offers the flexibility of completing a doctoral degree through self-paced distance learning, involving online-based courses as well as required and supervised practicum. Successful completion of the offered program requires a high degree of discipline, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently, which are basic elements of adult learning.

Students are expected to attend and participate in all weekly class discussions. Students should communicate with the professor with an explanation for any missed classes. Students will be expected to learn the material covered during the missed class by listening to the recorded class discussion and are expected to be ready to participate in the next weekly class discussion. Students in general should not miss more than 3 class discussions in a 15 weeks trimester (no more than 20% absence). In those rare occasions when students have missed 2-3 class discussions in a row, the professor may request an additional written assignment from the student to ensure understanding after watching the 2-3 missed class  discussions. Student attendance is factored into the course grade for most courses at the professor's discretion; specific details are provided in each course syllabus.
