All participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance documenting 16.5 hours of participation for the conference and 2 hours for each workshop attended.
Psychologists
This program has been reviewed and approved for CE credit for psychologists by the American Psychological Association's Continuing Education Committee. This program offers 16.5 CE credits for psychologists. The provider maintains responsibility for the delivery of the program. Approval #08-243.
The conference has received approval from the Maryland DHMH for 16.5 hours of Continuing Education for Maryland Psychologists.
Occupational Therapists
The Interdisciplinary Council on Developmental and Learning Disorders is an AOTA Approved Provider of continuing education. The ICDL AOTA Provider number is 6778. This program offers 16.5 CE credits for occupational therapist. The assignment of AOTA CEUs does not imply endorsement of specific course content, products, or clinical procedures by AOTA.
Social Workers
This program is approved by the National Association of Social Workers provider # 886527262 for 16.5 continuing education contact hours.
Speech and Language Pathologists (CCC-SLP and CCC-A)
The ICDL Annual Meeting may be used to meet the ASHA certification maintenance requirement.
ASHA requires individuals who hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) and the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) to accumulate 30 Certification Maintenance Hours of professional development every three years in order to maintain their Certificates of Clinical Competence (CCC).
The ICDL Annual Conference may be used to meet the ASHA certification maintenance requirement if you determine that: (1) the content is relevant to your area of practice and your practice setting, and (2) you are in your 3-year maintenance interval. You do not need prior approval from ASHA to use this activity. The activity is offered for 17 Certification Maintenance Hours, and you will be provided with the appropriate documentation of attendance. Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the conference, participants will be able to:
- Explain the critical factors of effective interventions for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Describe different types of developmental interventions for children with ASD and their level of efficacy
- Cite medical concerns that can interfere with learning in children with ASD
- Describe medical approaches that can help children with ASD who present perseverative behaviors and/or gastrointestinal problems.
- Associate neuroscience findings with language development in children with ASD
- Formulate recommendations to improve the educational outcomes for children with ASD and other special needs
- Discuss issues of acceptance and quality of life for children, adolescents and adults with disabilities
