2015 Annual International Conference Continuing Education Credits

September 20 & 21, 2015 in Atlantic City, NJ

ICDL has applied for continuing education credits for the following professions:
  • occupational therapists
  • speech and language pathologists
  • counselors
  • social workers
  • music therapists
  • art therapists (ICDL has not applied, but please read the information below)

All participants that apply for continuing education credits/hours will receive a Certificate of Attendance documenting hours of participation in their course.  Please note that credits/hours are only provided for direct seat time.  

Non-Credit Onsite Events:   Continuing education credit is not offered for breakfast, luncheon, dinner functions or breaks; board and committee meetings, networking events.

Skills Level:  This training is appropriate for occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, social workers, art therapists, music therapists, educators, counselors, and other mental health treating professionals of all skill levels.

Learning Objectives/Outcomes of Conference:

  1. Participants will demonstrate the ability to identify and understand the various types of individual differences and developmental levels that contribute to an individual's unique developmental profile. 
  2. Participants will demonstrate the ability to describe concepts of self-advocacy and self-determination, including but not limited to, ethics, trends and decision making. 
  3. Participants will demonstrate the ability to identify challenges in sensory integration and processing that may lead to challenge in other areas of development, including but not limited to: executive functioning and learning
  4. Participants will demonstrate the ability to identify multiple aspects of musical therapy and musical play in order to support the individual needs and developmental levels of children and young adults. 
  5. Participants will demonstrate the ability to describe how a developmental, individual-difference, relationship-based approach is utilized in a multi-disciplinary fashion to promote positive development for children and young adults.  
  6. Participants will demonstrate the ability to apply techniques and strategies from the DIRFloortime model (Developmental, Individual-difference, Relationship-based) to intervene, treat, and promote positive development in children and young adults with developmental challenges.

Sunday, September 20 is offered for .55 CEUs

Monday, September 21 is offered for .55 CEUs
(Intermediate level, Professional area)

Both days of the conference are offered for up to 1.10 CEUs
(Intermediate level, Professional area)

Attendees must attend all keynote and plenary sessions and a workshop during each available workshop segment on a given day in order to receive ASHA CEUs for that day.
ICDL will not provide partial credit on either day.

The Interdisciplinary Council on Development and Learning is an AOTA Approved Provider of continuing education. The ICDL AOTA Provider number is 6778. The assignment of AOTA CEUs does not imply endorsement of specific course content, products, or clinical procedures by AOTA.



Counselors

ICDL has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6733. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. ICDL is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.  DIR 101, 201, 202, 203, 204, and the 2015 Annual Conference are all available for NBCC continuing education credits unless it is indicated otherwise.

Music Therapists

The music therapy portion of this conference has been approved by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) for 4  Continuing Music Therapy Education credits. The ICDL (Provider number P-149) maintains responsibility for program quality and adherence to CBMT policies and criteria. www.cbmt.org




Art Therapists


According to the ATR-BC Recertification Standards, ICDL training programs that are approved by one of the other national continuing education boards listed on this page, may be eligible for Art Therapy continuing education credit. These standards state, "CECs will be accepted for all courses or events that fit in the ATCB Eligible Content Areas and that are presented or approved by any of the following art therapy, mental health, or behavioral sciences entities: state licensing authority, national professional organization, or national credentialing body for continuing education credit."  It is the responsibility of each participant to determine if an ICDL program qualifies or not.  ICDL is not an approved ATR-BC continuing education provider and as such can not award ATR-BC continuing education credits directly.
